Android Tablets Chew 30% Out of iPad's Marketshare

A new study from Strategy Analytics indicates that Android tablets have finally started to take a bite out of the fruit of the iPad. According to their numbers, Apple's iPad shipments fell sharply during Quarter 2, and Android Tablets were the reason behind it. Android tabs rose from a paltry 2.9% marketshare during the 1st quarter, to a whopping 30.1% during the second quarter. Contrast that with the iPad that went from 94.3% marketshare in Q1 down to 61.3% in Q2, and you can see directly where 'Andy' is eating his snacks.

Technically, Apple has still sold over twice as many iPads than Google has Android Tablets, at 9.3 Million to 4.6 Million respectively; however, that's because it was Apple's market to begin with, and their market to lose, since they pioneered it in the first place. It has to be alarming to Steve Jobs and Co. that Android was able to make such a dramatic jump in such a short amount of time. And, it's only going to get worse, since Amazon plans to get into the tablet market in a big way later this year.

Netflix Updated; Playback on 22 Devices Including Droid 3 & Side-loading for Tablets

Here's some great news for fans of streaming Netflix. The Netflix Android app has been updated and now includes a total of 22 devices on its officially supported roster. Furthermore, several more devices are able to use the app if you side-load the .APK, including the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, Motorola Xoom, and Asus Eee Pad Transformer. Here's a breakdown of the officially supported devices:

[Rumor] Samsung Working on Galaxy 3D Superphone for End of this Year

A Korean website called, ETNews, is posting a rumor that Samsung is working on a 3D version of their flagship Galaxy SII phone, that will come to retail by the end of this year. Apparently, Samsung doesn't want to be the only Android OEM without a 3D phone, like the LG Optimus 3D and the HTC EVO 3D. The phone's rumored specs are very similar to the current Galaxy SII, with a 1.2GHz Exynos processor, 4.3" display, etc. The primary difference will be two 8 mega-pixel cameras on the back to take 3D pics and video. It will also supposedly come with Gingerbread and possibly an HDMI output so you can display your homemade 3D videos on your home theater system. This could all be speculation, but we will keep an eye out for more info in the future.

Mere Brother Ki Dulhan 2011

Mere Brother Ki Dulhan (Hindi: मेरे ब्रदर की दुल्हन; English: My Brother's Bride), also known by the abbreviated form MBKD, is an upcoming Hindi-language film that marks the writing and directing debut of Ali Abbas Zafar and stars Imran Khan, Katrina Kaif and Ali Zafar in the lead roles. Produced and distributed by Yash Raj Films, the film is a romantic comedy set around a love triangle. It is set to release in July 2011.

Premise

Not much is currently known about the film other than it is a "topsy-turvy story" set amongst upper middle class families in northern India, and that Imran Khan plays a character who falls in love with his brother's (Ali Zafar) fiancée (Katrina Kaif).

Production

Yash Raj Films announced the then-untitled project on 5 August 2010. Ali Abbas Zafar, who's been an assistant director on a number of Yash Raj Films productions such as Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, Tashan, New York and Badmaash Company, makes his feature writing and directing debut with this film, which has been described as a comedy of errors by lead actor Imran Khan. After Band Baaja Baaraat, this marks the second Yash Raj Films production in a row to be helmed by a first time director who was previously an assistant director. Zafar is originally from Dehradun, where much of the story is set.After years of working with Yash Raj Films, he submitted three love stories to producer Aditya Chopra, who eventually greenlit Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, enabling Zafar to start writing his 150 page long script.
Like many Bollywood films, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan has suffered allegations that it is a rip-off of an American film even before filming wrapped. According to these sources, the film rips off Dan In Real Life, in which Steve Carrell's character also falls in love with his brother's girlfriend (played by Dane Cook and Juliette Binoche respectively). It should be noted that this theme is fairly widespread in fiction and not at all limited to these films and unless Mere Brother Ki Dulhan's scenes mirror those of Dan In Real Life exactly, it is safe to say that Zafar's film is an original work. The film has also drawn comparison to an earlier Yash Raj Films production, Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai.

Casting

Imran Khan and Katrina Kaif play the romantic leads in the film, and their involvement was announced in the same press release as the initial production company announcement. Both actors were among the most popular Bollywood actors at the time, having delivered huge hits in the recent past, and this is the first time they've been paired together. They were initially to star together in 7 Days In Paris for director Sanjay Gadhvi, but the film has been indefinitely postponedThus, while their pairing has made the film quite anticipated,some media publications have alleged that their casting was an attempt by Yash Raj Films to end a recent string of box-office flops and disappointments.While this is Imran Khan's first movie for Yash Raj Films, Katrina Kaif had previously worked with them (and then assistant director Ali Abbas Zafar) on the critical and commercial hit New York. She was able to take the role thanks to the postponement of Dostana 2 to which she was already committed. Her role has been reported in the media as different than characters she's played so far, and alternatively described as a "friendly, simple Delhi girl" or a "rebel with a grungy punk look". Prior to shooting, the director selected some 20/25 tattoo designs for Kaif to choose from for her character.
The role of Katrina Kaif's fiancé and Imran Khan's brother was initially offered to Ritesh Deshmukh who turned it down after initially accepting it.It was then given to Ali Zafar (no relation to the director), an actor who'd received rave reviews for his recently released first film Tere Bin Laden and who confirmed his participation via his Twitter account..A popular singer, Zafar will also perform his own character's singing in the film and described his casting as "a dream come true" and his role as a "parallel lead role". Interestingly, this marks an Indian film where none of the three leads are fully Indian, as Khan is Indian-American, Kaif is British of partly-Indian descent and Zafar is Pakistani. The film additionally stars a new actress whose name hasn't been revealed yet.
On 17 October 2010, several media outlets reported on the casting of Preity Zinta in an unspecified "glamorous role". The actress however quickly denied the report on her official Twitter page.

Release

While a firm release date isn't set, Yash Raj Films is aiming for a July 2011 date. The studio drastically changed their marketing tactics with this film by revealing the its title and two stills a week into filming, whereas they have previously been very secretive about sharing such information until about a couple of months before the theatrical release.

Dum Maaro Dum (Hindi: दम मारो दम) is an upcoming Hindi language Thriller film being directed by Rohan Sippy, starring Abhishek Bachchan, Rana Daggubati, Bipasha Basu and Prateik Babbar. Aditya Pancholi will also be in the film. The film's shoot has been progressing for several months in Goa. Deepika Padukone will be seen doing an item number for the film, on the remix version of the hit song "Dum Maro Dum". The song has been composed by Pritam. This is the first Bollywood film to be mixed in Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound After delivering a superhit in the form of Bluffmaster, Abhishek Bachchan and Rohan Sippy are coming together in this film. The film is set to release on April 22, 2011, in both India and the United States.

The film revolves around the lives of six Indians who meet in Goa, India and how their lives change forever once involved in drug mafias.

The music is composed by Pritam Chakraborty. Lyrics are penned by Jaideep Sahni.Dum Maaro Dum will be the first film to be released in Dolby Surround 7.1

Thank You (Hindi: थैंक यू) is an upcoming Bollywood romantic comedy film directed by Anees Bazmee and produced by UTV Motion Pictures. It features Akshay Kumar, Bobby Deol, Sonam Kapoor, Suniel Shetty, Irfan Khan, Celina Jaitley & Rimi Sen. The movie is slated for early 2011 April release. Thank You is about three married men trying to have some fun outside their marriage. And Akshay Kumar plays a detective who specializes in extra-marital relationships. Some scenes in this film are being shot in Vancouver and Toronto, Canada and Bangkok.

Plot

The film, which has been co-produced by UTV Motion Pictures and also sees Irfan Khan, Celina Jaitley and Rimi Sen in pivotal roles, outlines the story of three married friends (played by Deol, Shetty and Khan), who want to spice up their humdrum lives by embarking on extramarital affairs. Kumar is playing a marriage counsellor, while the three leading ladies play the suffering wives.
